Things to know when going to St. Barts

Posted On Tuesday, September 27, 2022

1. Picnic on a Secluded Beach

Of course, out of all St Barths attractions, the most well known are its beaches!

Perched on the northwest end of the island, Colombier Beach can only be reached from the water or by a half-hour scramble over steep and rocky terrain. Once you’re there, the reward is a secluded powdered coral beach with waters so turquoise you won’t believe they’re not PhotoShopped.

On the south-eastern edge of St Barts lies a hidden treasure of unique beauty, Saline Beach. With its seemingly endless stretch of white sand, framed by white sea foam and gin-clear water, Saline beach is the epitome of a tropical oasis. This vast beach is unlike any other on the island, with no villas, hotels or restaurants in sight. Saline beach is a perfect spot for an afternoon snorkeling the superb coral formations or sunbathing to the sound of the tropical bird song from the old salt marshes that sit behind the dunes.

2. Surfing at Lorient

For those who prefer to stay above the waves, St Barts offers some pretty magical surfing. The best surf is at Lorient beach, on the north side of the island. There are plenty of challenging breaks for experienced surfers and some calmer spots if it’s your first time on a board. Lorient is not the only spot to surf – there are rental shops dotted all around the island. For all water sports enthusiasts it’s one of the best places to visit in St Barths!

3. Party All Night

LE TI

LE Ti combines Paris and Marrakesh, complete with burlesque dancers and table service, giving you a mixture of a supper club and the legendary Moulin Rouge. There’s also a dinner service at Le Ti with amazing international dishes, but staying for the soirees is the thing to do as they kick things up a notch every night.

NIKKI BEACH

A popular place to hang out, especially on Sundays, this club on Baie de St. Jean is a world-renowned attraction. Make sure to have a seat reserved before coming and have a wonderful time from day tonight.

4. Rent A Car

The first thing you need to do when you get to St Barth and get out of the plane is to get a car. This is not just a recommendation, it is MUST!

Driving around the island is super safe and easy. And the island is so small you cannot get lost. You will find rentals on the way out, plenty of them. My advice is to drive around, be curious, discover, appreciate the beauty and wonder the island has. You can even see the entire island in one day, even though I suggest you take at least 3 full days, 4 nights, to really enjoy it fully.
